Barclays' Summer Ball
Barclays' aim was to create an unforgettable corporate entertainment event attended by a cross section of the Bank’s key accounts. The vision of their Marketing Director, Richard French was to host a unique summer ball that would be talked about by customers and staff for months.

An evening to remember
Over 180 guests were invited to The Blades’ headquarters at Sywell Aerodrome for a Top Gun-themed evening. Awaiting their arrival was a squadron of aircraft ranging from World War I biplanes to The Blades’ ultra-modern Extra 300s, specially branded for the corporate entertainment event in Barclays’ striking cyan-blue livery.

Impeccable customer care
The guests were welcomed with champagne, canapés and boarding passes for a once-in-a-lifetime flights over the Northamptonshire countryside. During the champagne reception all 180 guests flew, many electing to experience the thrill of aerobatic loops and rolls. Between flights, summer ball guests watched from the specially-erected marquee, serenaded by live bands and treated to a variety of amazing flying displays by the UK’s top pilots.

Success
Welcoming everyone as they sat down to dinner, Barclays Commercial Bank’s CEO Chris Grigg abandoned his pre-prepared speech and said: “I’m putting this speech away because I believe that this event stands on its own... I want to leave you with one thought, one that The Blades absolutely personify, and that is the pursuit of excellence... and that is what I want to do for you.”

Their marketing staff were so impressed by the effect of the summer ball on their customers that the following week, the bank secured The Blades’ services for a further 48 corporate events.
