Arriving at Sywell Airfield for the culmination of their annual reward programme, there is no doubt that some of the faces of Bauer Media's 250 employees fell.

Unforgettable yet affordable
Bauer's top performance reward the previous year had involved a trip to a luxury resort in Spain. Faced with a 'tented city' in Northamptonshire, their employees' sceptical reaction was understandable. However Bauer Media's decision to use The Blades to provide their reward programme finale was based on their desire to create an event that was unforgettable yet affordable.

Teamwork
Any initial reservations quickly disappeared as Bauer's delegates began an intensive programme of once-in-a-lifetime activities. A group-wide conference was followed by a stunning arrival by The Blades. All 250 guests then formed teams vying to find targets from the air simultaneously in 12 different aircraft.

Once-in-a-lifetime
After a night under the stars, the teams flew aerobatic flights with The Blades, hovered helicopters and piloted Tiger Moth biplanes; they raced hovercraft and completed obstacle courses (expertly coached by the RAF Regiment). They bucked on the bronco, built a helicopter landing pad, cleared (dummy) mines and raced again on the Formula 1 simulator. Each activity was not just enjoyable but was designed to develop teamwork skills, vital to business life.

Awards Ceremony
That evening, we transformed the hangar to host Bauer's glittering black tie awards ceremony, complete with special effects machines, spotlights and an audio-visual feast and, of course, a dazzling display by The Blades. The shared experiences (and the banter surrounding them) continued to cement relationships long after the ball had ended.

Objectives achieved
Feedback after the event confirmed that Bauer's event objectives were exceeded in every aspect. We had created an unforgettable experience for their employees, whilst developing their planning, teamwork and procedural skills in ways that would provide lasting business benefits for the company.
